A band was founded by Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein. Presently, Janet Weiss (of Quasi) is the band's drummer. Two Carrie & Corin play guitar. Although Sleater-Kinney has there are no bass player, Corin does play tuned down several steps, typically filling a equivalent role as a bass guitarist would. Corin Tucker was at one time in the influential Riot Grrrl band Heavens to Betsy. Carrie was erst in the queercore band Excuse 17.
